A YOUTH from the outskirts of Taunton has been in court for riding a motorbike without due care and attention, tailgating, overtaking and speeding on a 30mph road in the town.

The 17-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, admitted a number of motoring offences on Upper Holway Road in August last year.

He was fined £25 for riding without due care and attention.

He was also fined £50 for using a motor vehicle without insurance, along with a £21 victim surcharge, and banned from driving for six months.

He received no further penalty for not having the correct licence "in circumstances where your driving would have been in accordance with any licence that could have been granted to you, namely was riding without due care, tailgating, overtaking and speeding

No action was taken for his breaching a youth rehabilitation order.

He was also given more time to pay court fines of £350 previously imposed on him.
