TESCO has installed a number of signs outside its store in Castle Street, Taunton, without permission.
The retail giant has now submitted a retrospective planning application for the retention of the four offending items.
Somerset West and Taunton Council has yet to rule on whether the signs can stay in place.
The unauthorised development is in connection with an electric car charging point.
Tesco has not requested permission to keep on internally illuminated media screen and three non-illuminated flag pole signs.
