A WOMAN gave birth in her car in lane one of the M5 on her way to the maternity ward at Taunton's Musgrove Park Hospital.

Teaching assistant Jayne Rowland, 36, forced her partner Joshua Mogg to pull up as she went into the final stages of labour on the southbound carriageway of the motorway near Junction 24.

Paramedics and police found the couple stopped on the inside lane as there was no hard shoulders due to roadworks.

And within minutes baby Harry arrived in good health.

Jayne and Joshua, from Street, have today (Thursday) dropped by Taunton Ambulance Station to thank ambulance staff and police who helped her when she gave birth.

And the couple proudly showed of baby Harry Mogg and his brother Benjamin Lee.
