A UNITARY council run by the Conservative-led county council would be the easy way out of the mess they have gotten themselves into.
South Somerset District Council, I know, has managed the area very well and have accrued assets which bring in a revenue to be shared among the towns and villages in South Somerset (although much has to go through county).

In the opinion of many I have spoken to, if the county council were to take over, all of the assets would be stripped and the district would have to fight tooth and nail to get anything approved for the area.
As an ex-town councilor, I am personally against this move.
It will not serve the districts well!
