PROSPECTIVE fiancées are being offered a helping hand to propose to their partner in style next month.

One lucky woman will get the chance to go down on one knee to pop the question at a 19th Century stately home in 500 acres with private parkland and lakes.

With February 29 offering an opportunity to flip the traditional proposal roles, Orchardleigh Estate, near Frome, has launched a competition, offering to orchestrate a dream occasion to ask for your loved one's hand.

You could ask the question on the battlements of Orchardleigh Castle; how about a surprise by proposing on a helicopter ride over Somerset; or a romantic picnic on the golf course; you could do it on a boat on the lake; or over a meal in the restaurant.

To enter the competition, prospective fiancées simply have to share details of how they envisage proposing to their partners, along with a brief background as to how they met and fell in love.

The owners of Orchardleigh Estate, Chris Vincent and his wife Heather, who accepted Chris’s romantic proposal on the estate before marrying last year, will then pick a winner based on who they think is the most worthy entrant, before assisting with the stage management of their proposal.

As part of the proposal experience, Chris and Heather will also host the winning couple overnight on the estate in Orchardleigh’s boathouse, while also including a meal at the Orchardleigh restaurant.

Chris Vincent said: "Orchardleigh is a venue that exudes romance.

"From the beauty of its 19th century architecture, to the spectacular landscape of the rolling parkland, mixed with a wealth of history stretching back 12 centuries, it offers endless inspiration for a perfect fairy-tale proposal.

"The evening I proposed to Heather is a cherished memory for both us – and we’re hoping we can help another couple experience that same joy."

You should submit your entry by February 14 to orchardleigh.lpages.co/proposal-competition/
