NO DEAL: Tesco denies it is interested in buying the former Master Thatcher pub
TESCO has flatly denied a story circulating in Taunton that the company plans to buy the former Master Thatcher pub in Severn Drive.
A story has been cirulating on social media over recent weeks suggesting the supermarket giant had been negotiating a deal to take on the building.
A spokesman for Tesco scotched rumours that it had been in talks with Palmers Brewery about buying the premises in a £1.7million deal.
A post on social media claimed that work would start in 2020 to convert the former pub, which closed last August, into a shop as part of a £3million project.
The Tesco spokesman said: "There is absolutely no truth in that rumour."
