KIND-HEARTED students at Bridgwater and Taunton College gave away free haircuts to people in need.

On November 19, the students from the hairdressing and barber groups offered free treatments to support people to access their local foodbanks.

The team came together to offer free shampoo, cut and blow-dry to females, and free shampoo, haircut and beard trim for males.

Karen Laird, course leader for hairdressing at the college, said: "Life these days for the majority of us is getting much, much busier and, a lot more expensive.

"I was really keen to support others in our neighbourhood and be able to give people a treat.

"This opportunity also allowed our students to use their creative skills and gain further experience working with our wider community."

A range of treatments is available at both college salons in Taunton and Bridgwater.
