POP sensation Taylor Swift has been confirmed for next summer's Glastonbury Festival.

The star, famed for hits including Shake It Off, I Knew Your Were Trouble and Blank Space, will top the bill on the Sunday night.

Next summer's event, the 50th anniversary of the first Glastonbury Festival, runs from June 24 to 28 at Worthy Farm, Pilton.

Festival founder Michael Eavis said 30-year-old singer songwriter Swift was an 'amazing' addition to the line-up, which features other confirmed headliner Sir Paul McCartney, as well as soul legend Diana Ross.

“I’m so pleased to announce Taylor Swift will be headlining the Sunday at Glastonbury 2020," he said.

"She’s one of the biggest stars in the world and her songs are absolutely amazing. We’re so delighted.”

Meanwhile, rumours of who will feature in the festival's 50th show continue to grow, as acts announce tours for next summer - some with Glastonbury-shaped holes in their schedule across the final weekend in June.

Here are a few we've spotted...

  • David Gray: The British singer/songwriter has announced a tour next summer to mark 20 years since the release of his White Ladder album. He will play with Nerina Pallot and Lighthouse Family at Blenheim Palace, Oxfordshire, on June 18 - a week before Glastonbury.

  • Pearl Jam: The Seattle grunge megastars have been confirmed as a headliner for the series of shows at London's Hyde Park next summer - but it is billed as their only UK show, so they look unlikely.

  • Guns 'n' Roses: Bad boy rockers GnR will also be on the road, including in the UK, next summer. But where would they fit on the Glastonbury bill?
Plus, they are famed for their rock and roll excesses - would they play for a reduced fee?
However, guitar star Slash did perform with his band in 2010.
