BUILTH Wells Community Arts are returning to the Wyeside Arts Centre this Christmas with their new show the Wind in the Willows.

This stage adaptation is written by the renowned John Morely and directed by Erin Draper.

There will be a performance on Friday, December 13, at 7pm, and two Saturday, December 14, at 2pm and 7pm.

Come along and join loyal Mole, cheerful Ratty, wise old Badger, and will he ever be humbled Toad, as they set out to gallivant the riverbank on a humorous and enchanting adventure this Christmas.

The first act begins in an Edwardian summer in high spirits, with the joyful animals playing by the riverbank and setting out on their new adventure.

However, they are not the only ones looking for a good time. The Chief Weasel runs throughout the play with his wicked band of ferrets and weasels, and he’s quite the party pooper. His goal? To take over the riverbank!

The second act then leads into the winter season, with carols and winter excitement to get you in the Christmas swing. And of course, it wouldn’t be a Wind in the Willows story without the battle for Toad Hall.

The production is presented with wonderful costumes by Gina Ayling and beautifully crafted set pieces by their stage manager Bob Chard, which elevate and enrich the theatrical experience of being in the willows.

Witness the story so widely beloved, by the original novelist Kenneth Grahame, as it comes to life before your eyes. Help the animals have a Merry Christmas, with Builth Wells Community Arts as they share their story for an evening of magic and joy for all the family.

Next year's show - ‘Fly by Night’ - is a comedy-drama (with music) inspired by the local legend of an unscrupulous trader and the strange occurrences after his death. The terrified people turn to the saintly parson for help. The success of the coming feast-day celebrations is at risk. He must find a solution – fast!
