A MAN of 97 is in hospital after being hit by a car in a Somerset town.

Police were called to the Morrisons car park in Summer Lane, Weston-super-Mare, just before midday on Monday (December 2)

An Avon and Somerset Police spokesman said: "There were reports of two elderly pedestrians having been injured in a collision with a car.

"They were treated at Weston General Hospital for injuries not believed life-threatening or life-changing.

"The 97-year-old man remains in hospital for treatment. The car driver, a man in his 70s, was spoken to at the scene."

Police are appealing for witnesses to the incident.
