AN 80-YEAR-OLD man who died after choking at the Toby Carvery has been named as Terence Graham Lane.
The retired navigational officer was dining at the restaurant at Hinton in Christchurch with his wife, Patricia, when he started to choke, a Bournemouth inquest heard.
Assistant Dorset coroner Brendan Allen was told Mr Lane collapsed at the Lyndhurst Road restaurant on Tuesday October 15.
Several members of the public attempted to help him until paramedics arrived but Mr Lane, of Southcliffe Road in Christchurch was pronounced dead at the scene, the coroner was told.
Police attended and confirmed there were no suspicious circumstances.
A post mortem examination revealed he died of choking.
The inquest was adjourned until May next year to allow for further inquiries to be carried out on behalf of the coroner.
