Four years of hard work has resulted in the day that fundraisers for Penlee RNLI have been eagerly anticipating since 2015 – the opening of a new lifeboat station.
The dream became a reality today when the state-of-the-art station in Newlyn was officially unveiled today.
In total, £200,000 has been raised to make the project possible – with the fundraising given a huge boost of £50,000 thanks to the Jewson Building Better Communities Fund.

Residents of Newlyn and RNLI supporters around west Cornwall played their part, however, organising a large array of events from cake baking to sponsored walks and marathon running.
A spokesperson for Penlee Lifeboat said earlier: “It’s been a long haul but [today] our wonderful new station will be officially opened.

“Huge thanks to each and every one of you who donated so generously, held fundraising events, rattled buckets, baked cakes, walked miles, ran marathons, donated paintings, and generally supported the building of our new station - we really couldn’t have done it without our amazing Penlee Lifeboat community.”
