A GROUP of Taunton youths have taken action after being inspired by recent climate protests.
The youngsters, from kids club Grom Squad, ran by Channel Adventure in French Weir Park, took to their kayaks to clear up the River Tone.
A spokesperson said: "The project was the idea of the children, aged between 8-13, who said they were inspired to take action after taking part in the recent climate change strikes at school.
"The club aims to teach children adventurous activities, such as climbing, archery, axe throwing and paddleboarding.
"The children used the paddling skills they have developed over the last six weeks to help them tackle the polluted river."
The club was supported by the Somerset Wildlife Trust, which provided the litter pickers and the gloves for the clean up.
