A TAUNTON ticket holder scooped £2,000 in the council-run lottery last month.

The Somerset West Lottery, run by Somerset West and Taunton Council, sees 50p from every £1 ticket sold given to local good causes as well as giving entrants the chance to win up to £25,000 each week.

And every person who signs up to purchase one or more tickets for the Somerset West Lottery between now and November 2 2019 will be in with the chance to win a bonus prize this autumn.

Players will automatically be entered into the national bonus draw to win one of five entertainment bundles thanks to the lottery management company, Gatherwell.

Each bundle consists of an Amazon Echo, a Fire TV Stick, an Amazon Echo Dot and a Fire HD 8 tablet.

For the draw on September 28, one lucky player from Taunton matched five numbers and won £2,000.

Cllr Chris Booth, executive member for community, said: "The local lottery makes it easier for us all to support charities, the voluntary sector and not-for-profit organisations in the Somerset West and Taunton area.

"It gives organisations the opportunity to promote themselves through ticket sales, and money raised through the lottery is making a lot of difference to the various beneficiaries.

"I would like to thank everyone who is already promoting their part in the lottery and everyone who has bought a ticket. These efforts really do help our local communities and I would encourage other good causes to sign up.”

Now, the council wants to make sure as many good causes and local charities as possible can receive financial support from the Somerset West Lottery.
