A HUGE fire has broken out at an industrial building in Poole Industrial Estate, Wellington this morning.
A total of eight fire engines were sent to the scene at 6.37am today (September 12) to find the building well alight.
The crews also had an aerial ladder platform, a water carrier, an environmental protection unit, incident support unit, welfare unit and a command support vehicle at the scene.
The firefighters used three main jets and two breating apparatus to tackle the fire and stop it spreading to neighbouring properties.
At 8am the crews managed to divide the fire into sectors. The building is made up of seven terrace units with two fully involved in the fire.
At 9.15am crews were still battling the fire and a spokesman for the fire service said significant internal collapse had been identified in one of the sectors.
Day crews are now making their way to the incident to relieve night crews.
Using the aerial ladder platform firefighters started making access to the fire through the roof.
Safety Observers have been deployed for signs of possible collapse and the watch manager and building inspector have been inspecting the property.
As of 11am, good progress was being made and the incident scaled back to four fire engines.
