A TEAM of intrepid walkers from Taunton Round Table tackled 60 miles of the challenging North Somerset coastal path to raise money for charity last weekend.
The team of 10 were raising funds to take nearly 400 disabled and disadvantaged children and their carers to Longleat Safari park for the day; an annual trip that costs nearly £4,000.
Starting on Saturday (September 7), they walked 30 miles from Minehead to Combwich before camping overnight supported by 1st North Petherton Scouts then finishing the walk at Brean Down Cafe the next day.
Chairman Russ Haworth said: "I'm delighted to say we've smashed our fundraising target thanks to their generosity.
"The Longleat trip is always a highlight of the Taunton Round Table year and it's great to be able to offer the opportunity to local children who wouldn't otherwise get the chance to go."
