RESULTS for students at Taunton Academy have improved once again.

The overall pass rate at the Cheddon Road school has increased compared to last year with regards to most key measures, including those students getting grade 4 and above in English and maths.

A spokesperson said in some subjects students did exceptionally well, in particular in individual sciences and in languages, with a stunning 90% of students achieving above a grade 4 in photography too.

Headteacher, Jen Veal, said: “I am really proud of our students. They worked so hard this year to achieve such good results at all levels.

"More than ever before achieved top grades across several subjects, which is a wonderful achievement.

"I would also like to celebrate the success of those students who have faced significant challenges during their schooling. In many cases they have attained grades beyond expectations and also deserve recognition for all their hard work and dedication.

"Not only has this year group done really well they have also been a delight to work with and are a credit to their families. They leave us as well-rounded individuals whom we will remember fondly.

"I am pleased to see that overall we are continuing the trend of improvement across all ability ranges, showing we are a fully inclusive school, and especially the increase in higher end grades, proof that our students can compete confidently and deservedly with others nationally.

"Thanks to staff and parents/carers, all of whom have supported our students to enable them to achieve these results. We wish all students the very best for the future."
