Thousands of people marched through Aberdeen on Saturday in support of Scottish independence.

It is the latest march in a series of pro-indy demonstrations staged throughout the country by AUOB, and the group say they believe 12,000 joined.

The Aberdeen march hoped to be the 'biggest demonstration the North East has ever seen'.

Police Scotland estimated 4-5,000 people joined the march.

The procession took off from Blackburn car park at 1.30pm, and travelled through the town centre to eventually finish at the Low Green.

Organisers have revealed their official number to be 'at least 12,000'.

Councillors approved the request from pro-indy group All Under One Banner to march through the city, subject to safety conditions earlier this week.

Marchers gathered at Albyn Place and then marched on to Castlegate via Union Street and Castle Street.

It was lead by a singer flag carrier from Aye Aberdeen.
