A MOTORCYLCIST has been airlifted to hospital following a road traffic collision off Taunton town centre.

Police say the bike rider, who is in his 40s, suffered a "serious leg injury" in the crash.

They are appealing for witnesses and dashcam footage to the incident at the junction of Wordsworth Drive and Hamilton Road at around 4.05pm yesterday (Tuesday, August 13).

An Avon and Somerset Police spokeswoman said a Ford KA turning right from Wordsworth Drive onto Hamilton Road collided with a Honda motorcycle.

She added: "The motorcyclists, aged in his 40s, sustained a serious leg injury and was airlifted to Southmead Hospital (Bristol), where he continues to receive treatment.

"The car driver was unhurt."
