BUSINESS leaders raised £4,225 for charity We Hear You at Somerset Chamber of Commerce’s annual charity golf day.

The event at Enmore Park Golf Club featured teams of four teeing off before enjoying a dinner with presentations, a raffle and auction.

We Hear You works across Somerset providing free professional counselling to patients, families, friends, carers and colleagues affected or bereaved by cancer or any life-threatening condition.

Stephen Henagulph, chief executive of Somerset Chamber of Commerce, said: “The weather was perfect for a great day of informal networking alongside a relaxed round of golf.

"I’m thrilled we were able to raise £4,225 to support the valuable work of We Hear You."

Gemma Wilkes, We Hear You fundraising and communications manager, said: "It was a wonderful day, providing us, not only with an amazing donation, but also the opportunity to talk to local businesses about our services.

"The proceeds from the day will fund 96 counselling sessions for local families affected by cancer or a life-threatening condition."

Somerset Chamber organises a golf day in aid of a local charity every year.

Now in its 13th year, the event has raised tens of thousands of pounds for good causes at different golf courses around the county.
