THOUSANDS of visitors are expected to enjoy a fun programme of activities at the annual steam and vintage rally at Norton Fitzwarren this month.

The West Somerset Railway Association event is on Saturday and Sunday, August 3 and 4.

It will feature working traction engines, tractors and road rollers, as well as vintage cars, motorcycles, fire engines, buses and heavy horses, as well as military and commercial vehicles.

There will be parades of vehicles, stationary engines and demonstrations of steam engines and tractors at work.

Other highlights at one of the most popular events in the area’s annual calendar include brake rides on the Barnstaple Line, family fun and a craft tent.

Free travel to the rally is being laid on with the new Great Western Railway shuttle running from Taunton on the Saturday; on a 1967 vintage bus from Taunton Bus Station on both days; and on the shuttle train from Bishops Lydeard.
