BUSINESS leaders from across Somerset enjoyed a drinks reception and a relaxed evening of networking at Taunton Rugby Club as guests of the Somerset Chamber of Commerce on Thursday, July 11.
Stephen Henagulph, Chief Executive of the Chamber, welcomed everyone to the business to business event and gave an update on the Bank of England’s latest financial position and a preview of the Chamber’s new broadband survey.
Mr Henagulph said: “Businesses across Somerset consistently tell us that poor broadband services are hampering their business growth.
“For example, we know of an architect in large town in the county who cannot upload PDFs for clients because the broadband connection is not good enough.
“The survey will only take about four minutes to complete and the feedback will help us get a clearer idea of where the areas are with the greatest demand.”
He encouraged guests to complete the survey, which is being run in association with ultra-fast broadband provider Truespeed and said the results would enable the Chamber to lobby for improvements and identify problem areas.
The evening saw attendees enjoy a fantastic three-course dinner, moving between tables for each course, to enable them to make new contacts and discuss their business with fellow businessmen and women.
