A HOMELESS man has been jailed for 21 weeks following a string of shoplifting offences.
Carl James Behan, 37, of no fixed address, pleaded guilty to stealing from Morrisons, M&S, Lidl and the RSPCA in Bridgwater.
He was jailed for two weeks (all consecutive) on ten counts of theft when he appeared at Taunton Magistrates' Court.
He also admitted breaching the supervision requirements imposed on him following his release from prison, for which he was sentenced to seven days prison, also consecutive.
The court heard that he stole meat from Morrisons on four occasions; from M&S twice; and once each from Lidl and the Co-op.
He also stole a sheepskin coat from the RSPCA and washing powder from the Co-op.
The thefts all took place this year between February 2 and June 24.
