SCOUTING and Guiding groups from the Taunton area will celebrate England's patron saint with a St George's parade through the town on Sunday (April 28).

It will involve Rainbow Guides, Brownies, Guides and senior section, along with their leaders representing Taunton and Tone Division Girlguiding.

Blackdown District Scouts will be represented by Beaver Scouts, Cub Scouts, Scouts, Explorer Scouts and their leaders.

The parade will leave Canon Street Car Park at 2.30pm, passing the Old Municipal Buildings, where Taunton Deane Mayor Cllr Catherine Herbert and Scouting and Guiding commissioners will take the salute.

It will then march up The Crescent and into Vivary Park for a service on Wilton Lands.

A spokesman said: "There will be some disruption to traffic - apologies for that - but we will be marking St George as the patron saint of England and of Scouting.

"There will be nearly 1,000 young people and leaders parading so please do come out and support them."
