A retired nurse returned to her former ward to hand over funds raised from a swimming challenge.

Sue Potticary started taking swimming lessons after retiring as a staff nurse from Musgrove Park Hospital’s Fielding Ward almost five years ago.

After taking part in her first ever swim-marathon – completing 64 lengths at 1610 Bridgwater, she raised £275 for Fielding Ward and another £275 for Acorn Ward children’s ward.

Sue returned to see her former colleagues on Tuesday (April 16) and handed over her donation to Fielding Ward sister Abbie Bennett.

She has now caught the charity bug and hopes to take part in more fundraising activities.

Sue said: “I felt I wanted to do something useful, and having learned to swim I thought I’d do a swim-marathon.

“It was something I never thought I’d do, but now I’m thinking of doing another.”
