COMMUTERS who have got away with parking on a side road for years are in for a nasty shock when they return to their cars later today (Tuesday).
Philip Newman-Hall spotted six vehicles in Canal Road, Taunton, with penalty notices slapped on their windscreens this morning.
He tweeted his delight at the parking restrictions finally being enforced - especially as it will allow emergency vehicles to get through.
It follows a previous tweet he put up nine days ago after double yellow lines were painted along one side of the road to deter drivers from parking there.
He then wrote: "Good to see the reintroduced double yellow lines in Canal Road...but if a car is allowed to park on them without being ticketed for 48 hours where is the deterrent?"
