ROUND Two of the Stuart Barkley Time Trials Series saw riders set off in the dry from Queens Head only to face heavy rain by the time they arrived in Gobowen.

This did not stop 22 riders completing the course.

First place went to Andy Campbell of Fibrax-Wrexham RC, finishing nearly a minute ahead of his nearest rival in 22 minutes 30 seconds.

In second place was another rider who has been showing good form this year, Bryan Cliff, of North Shropshire Wheelers, who stopped the clock on 23.17 just one second ahead of Jayson Rees-Hughes of Alf Jones Cycles.

Fourth place went to a newcomer to the course, Alan Lewis who clocked 23.49, with another Wrexham rider, Paul Williams, finishing in 24.20.

First Oswestry Paragon rider, improving by 10 seconds from the previous week, was Matt Griffiths in a time of 24.48 putting him ahead of Medwyn Jones (25.08).

Colin Lythe was another rider to put in a big improvement from last week, crossing the line in 25.20 ahead of team mates Andrew Davies (25.38) and Rob Kerr(25.50).

With Helen Tudor marshalling, there were no Paragon ladies taking part and fastest lady went to Helen Pritchard of Mid Shropshire Wheelers in 32.23.

Fastest junior, knocking four seconds off his previous best, was Adam Griffiths in 32.38 ahead of Mid Shropshire Wheelers, Ruth Grivell-Mellor (33.04) and Eleanor Griffiths( 36.49).
