CULLOMPTON get their Tribute Western Counties West campaign up and running this afternoon with a trip to St Ives (SW) this afternoon.
It also marks the competitive start of the club's 125th anniversary season.
Ahead of the season opener, Cully team manager Steve Luxon said:
“Pre-season is usually a poor indicator.
“We still have several key players, like Josh Mammola, absent but there was a fine contribution from last year’s colts, like lock Jacob Broom.
“Western Counties provides a tough baptism for first year seniors.
“But I’m sure several of these youngsters have what it takes to step up.”
Cully's preparation included a 43-0 home friendly win over Withycombe – the side who knocked them out of last year’s RFU Senior Vase.
They scored seven tries without reply, inspired by youngster Westley Keywood's hat-trick.
