A Truro artist’s gallery at Mawgan Porth, Newquay, has been recognised as one of the world’s most outstanding visitor attractions based on reviews.

In Tripadvisor’s 2020 Travellers Choice awards, Jeanni Grant-Nelson’s Art At The Beach has been placed in the top ten per cent of attractions around the globe.

The placing was calculated on the basis of a full year’s customer reviews prior to the pandemic.

The award has inspired Jeanni to add to her portfolio of services by having her lessons professionally filmed to make them also accessible as an online course.

“These award winners are beloved for their exceptional service and quality,” said Kanika Soni, chief commercial officer at Tripadvisor.

“Not only are they well deserving, they are also a great source of inspiration to travellers as the world starts to venture out again.”

Jeanni said: “I am so grateful to all the people who have given ‘Art at the Beach’ such wonderful reviews.

“I love meeting people from across the world and see it as a privilege and joy to teach them art on the beach (and via Zoom during lockdown).

“Nothing gives me more joy than seeing the sparkle in the eye of a student when they understand a concept that was previously elusive to them. Each week I get some new students and others, I’m flattered to say, return annually.”

Jeanni added that some tourists had joined her Covid-friendly group lessons, some had private lessons and others undertook her unique course comprising three three-hour sessions.

The latter cover sketch and psychology, perspective and the maths of art and paint and brush technique generic to all mediums and styles.

As well as her own paintings, Jeanni’s Art At The Beach also sells artworks in various styles by her students.

Among her other activities, Jeanni is creator and director of Visual Awareness Ltd, an art event company which leads and inspires groups to create outstanding pieces of art – see www.visual-awareness.com
