FALMOUTH'S cinema is to reopen later this month.

Merlin Cinemas, which runs venues around Cornwall and beyond, began reopening last month with one screen and the bar and restaurant at the Regal in Redruth.

It has now confirmed that it will reopen the Phoenix in Falmouth, along with the Savoy in Penzance and the New Carlton in Okehampton, Devon, on August 26.

The main building at the Regal in Redruth will also reopen on that date.

It coincides with the release of new film Tenet and Disney's latest movie, The New Mutants.

Merlin said it would monitor business at the venues and look to reopen more of its cinemas, which include the Flora in Helston, during September.

A spokesperson said: "From Friday, August 14, the Savoy Bar and Restaurant will reopen before the cinema, so you can take advantage of the government's Eat Out To Help Out scheme and enjoy up to £10 off your food and soft drinks per person every Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in August.

"More information is available on our website.

"Our Cinema Support Office will reopen part-time from Monday, August 17, where we will begin to contact customers in regards to any outstanding transfers, vouchers, or refunds of Event Cinema and Theatre Shows.

"Thank you for the incredible patience you have shown so far and please bear with us while we work our way through the events in chronological order.

"As always look after your loved ones and stay safe."
