Cornwall-based Shallal Studios is running an art project to encourage people to be creative at home during the pandemic.

Running in partnership with another art studio, Project Ability, it aims to reach as many people as possible over the summer and autumn and offers a creative community online where people can view and comment on each other’s artwork.

"We’ve made it easy for people to take part as long as they, or a friend of family member, has internet access," said project manager Lou Brett.

"All the instructions and weekly activities are on our website at www.shallalstudios.com/picture-post in Easyread with subtitled videos to show you the activity as well. We’ve had nearly 200 incredible artworks sent in already and we really hope you will take part!”

All the resulting artwork is displayed on Shallal Studios’ website, www.shallalstudios.com/picture-post, and on a photo album on Shallal’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/shallalconnectcreate/, where people can join in the conversation about the art activities.

The project was set up to keep people feeling connected and creative during lockdown and was funded by Arts Council England, Cornwall Council and The National Lottery Community Fund.

Shallal Studios is part of arts charity Shallal and has a studio at Krowji creative hub, Redruth.
