COBWEB Tours is kick-starting its 2020 season with a new and free tour written especially for this years St Piran's Day festival in Redruth, on Saturday, March 7.

With stories of Celtic Saints, who might not be as saintly as you may at first think, the tours last approximately an hour, combing Redruth’s rich history with a fascinating stroll through the town.

As well as the walks, Cobweb’s guides will be on the buses - on board the classic coach that will be travelling round the town for the festival. Sponsorship from Redruth Town Council has meant that all of the tours during the St Piran’s Day Festival will be free of charge.

Hetty Bevington, from Cobweb Tours, said: “We are really excited to be part of the St Piran's festival in Redruth and are looking forward to showing people around parts of the town they might not normally see. Our walking tours start from the miner's statue at the heart of the town at various points in the day, we’ll be easy to spot.”

Dressing in traditional costume the guides will lead tours at 10.30am, 1.30pm and 3pm which last just over an hour.

Locals and visitors alike will then take in the sights from the views near Penandrea Mine, where on a clear day you can see across to the North Cornish Coast, to historical stop offs such as Redruth library and St Andrews church.

Hetty continues: “We have really enjoyed finding out about the Cornish Celtic saints for this tour. We’ve even discovered a few interesting tips on how to get rid of an annoying lover, so our tours will be full of surprises.”

To take advantage of these free tours visitors are being advised to hop on the vintage bus or meet at the Miners statue just before the tour times, however, a limited number of advance tickets will also be available on Eventbrite.
