FALMOUTH will again turn shades of red, yellow and green this month when the Falmouth Reggae Festival roars back into town for a full weekend of top-class reggae and family fun.

Now into its third year, The Falmouth Reggae Festival takes place on Saturday, September 28, and Sunday, September 29, at Falmouth Cricket Club, a new 5,000-capacity venue for the festival.

Billed as a family-friendly gig weekend, with two stages hosting a variety of reggae, dub, dancehall, ska and jungle artists, the event will also feature a variety of street food vendors, a rum yard, workshops and stalls.

All children under 12 gain free access when accompanied by a paying adult.

Headlining this year’s event is one of the most popular reggae and dancehall artists of all time, Johnny Osbourne, appearing with the Upper Cut Band on Saturday evening. Reggae and dancehall DJ legend David Rodigan adds further spice to the lineup, bringing with him a love, passion and obsession for reggae music over 50 years in the making.

They’ll be supported by perennial favourites such as Hotsteppas, Mad Apple Circus, Gold Dubs, The Stalks, The Resistars and Seizmic Audio.

Sunday’s sets are a little more relaxing, headlined by British reggae stalwarts Misty in Roots, joining the festival as part of their 40th anniversary tour.

They’re ably supported by The Majestic, The Kingstons and The Bare Foot Bandit, to name just a few.

In addition to the music programming throughout the weekend, festival goers will have the opportunity to shake their dreadlocks at a special Jungle After Party on Saturday evening from 11pm until 3am, featuring popular local favourites such as Indica, Gold Dubs & Raggamuffin, Vincent Vega and James Morgan.

Co-organiser of the festival, Thomas Merritt, said: “It’s great to be back for a fourth year and we’re particularly excited about our newly licensed, 5,000-capacity venue.

"This annual festival gives us the opportunity to bring heavy hitters from the world of reggae to the fans of Falmouth, as well as supporting our local bands and traders.

"Expect big things from this year’s event!”
