SITUATION

DESCRIPTION

The Old School House, which is not listed, once served as the village school until its closure in 1946. The 1870 Education Act meant that children were obliged to attend school and so in 1875 the school was founded for 50 children, boys and girls and consisted of just one schoolroom.

It is constructed of natural stone faced elevations with cut stone quoins beneath a slate roof. It retains many of its original Victorian Gothic architectural features, including stone mullioned windows and vaulted ceilings. Planning consent has been granted for the conversion of the building into a residential dwelling and it is currently under construction. It is being sold as a part completed conversion with major works already undertaken.
