Christmas time for Teddy Bears!

Christmas time for Teddy Bears! Christmas time for Teddy Bears!

THE 2008 Cornwall Christmas Bear Fair on Sunday, November 23 at the Community Centre Lostwithiel, will be the ninth Bear Fair at this venue organised by the partnership of Emmary Bears and Teddies of Trenode – Emmary Fairs - and their 13th overall.

Following the great successes of past Christmas Fairs, this year’s promises to be even better. There will be over 45 stands, in a festive setting, featuring hundreds of teddy bears - old and antique (some dating back to the turn of last century!), new, artist and designer, handcrafted by international and national artists (many from Devon and Cornwall), plus well-known international trademark bears and friends.

There will be bear making demonstrations and Mary of Emmary Bears will again be providing an extensive wide range of bear making kits, patterns, materials and accessories and will also be giving practical advice. Tricia of Teddies of Trenode will have an extensive selection of ‘oldies’ to choose from as well as giving free valuations for any ‘veterans’ brought in and Cassy from The Tamar Teddy Hospital will be on hand to give restoration advice and if necessary to hospitalise any infirmed teddies.

The fair will have Champagne competitions for the “The Best Christmas Stand” and “The Best Christmas Bear” – this is for an own bear creation, of any size – dressed or undressed – to be voted for by visitors to the fair – so bring your own! The winners will each receive an engraved Cup plus a bottle of Champagne. In addition there will be a free Teddy Prize draw. The draw and Champagne awards will take place at approximately 3.45pm.

Situated on the A390, which runs through Lostwithiel, the Community Centre is a very popular venue and has free parking.

The fair will take place between 10am and 4pm and the entrance fees will be £2.00 for adults, £1.00 for senior citizens and children under 14 will be admitted for free.
