Angling second to none
12:53pm Wednesday 7th February 2007 in Angling
The South West is world famous for its fishing be it sea, coarse of game. No angler will be disappointed with what is on offer.
Sea fishing can be obtained all round the coast and most species of sea fish can be landed within the area.
Take advice on safety before fishing or make sure you are familiar with the area.
If your taste is coarse fishing then the area is for you. There is a wide range of fishereris offering day permits which can be obtained from hotels, associations and fishery owners. Some of these clubs have open membership while others will have a membership limit and a waiting list.
Before fishing do not forget an Environment Agency national licence and a permit from the owner of the fishery.
If your fancy is game fishing then wild brown trout can be caught in many rivers on the moors while salmon can also be found in major rivers.
Big rainbows can be found in a number of reservoirs and small fisheries which are all over the area.
River fishing for trout or sea trout is available from mid March to mid October, and the growth of winter rainbow fisheries means a fly can be cast every month of the year.
