CLOSE CALL: Town striker Andy Bowker shoots, but his shot goes just wide
FALMOUTH TOWN 3
A Bowker, D Burchell, B Nute
BUCKLAND ATHLETIC 1
S Chubb
This victory saw Falmouth Town climb above Torpoint and Launceston to finish the season in fourth place in the premier division of the Carlsberg SW Peninsula League.
Town went straight for goal from kick off and forced a corner in the second minute. Darren Burchell swung the ball over to the far side of the area where Brinton Nute headed it to Lee Beer but his shot went wide of the mark.
Play switched to the other end and Buckland took a surprise lead after just five minutes. A high, looping cross from Jamie Carwardine found Steffen Chubb unmarked on the edge of the six yard box and he headed home.
Ten minutes later Town were level when Andy Bowker ran onto a Ben Goldring through ball and took it round a defender and the keeper to coolly walk it into the net to score Town's 100th goal in all competitions this season.
Buckland hit back with a good move down the right involving Carwardine and Simon Baxter. The ball was lofted into the middle where it sailed over Nathan Murphy and hit the post rebounding to Gavin Hammon in front of an open goal but fortunately for Town he was offside.
In the 32nd minute Bowker broke down the right wing and put in a low hard cross which Goldring was just one step away from connecting with in front of a gaping goalmouth.

Buckland went on the attack again and a slip by Lee Langmead, playing in an unaccustomed defensive role, let Gavin Hammon through on goal but he snatched at his shot and it flew wide.
The second half started with Bowker playing a good ball in to Burchell who saw his shot tipped over the bar by Neil Montandon in the visitors goal, but Lee Beer's speculative 30 yard shot from the corner went just wide.
After ten minutes of the second period Town made a double substitution taking off Bowker and Wheeler and bringing on Paul Wolstencroft and Dave Rawlings and moving Langmead up into the attack.
Midway through the half Langmead burst through the Bucks defence following a good ball from Matt Godfree but his shot was blocked by the legs of Montandon.
Town finally took the lead after 73 minutes. Beer hit a long crossfield ball over to Burchell who hit a screaming shot from 20 yards past a 'keeper grasping at thin air.
With 10 minutes remaining Falmouth had a corner which was taken by Gardner and as the ball came over referee Steve Annis spotted Langmead being pushed in the back and awarded Town a penalty. Nute stepped up and blasted the ball into the corner of the net to give Town an unassailable lead.
Ironically, it was Nute who scored the first goal of the season way back on August 11.
There was nearly another goal for Town when Gardner's flicked pass found Goldring, but his close range shot hit the post and rebounded to safety.
n Town's end of season dinner and dance will be held at the Falmouth Hotel on Saturday, May 31. Tickets priced at £21 can be obtained from the club or 01326 375156.
