Old Bristolians 13, Burnham 1sts 24
BURNHAM made it two wins in as many weeks as they beat Old Bristolians 24-13 on their travels on Saturday.
The game started well for Burnham with the forwards again showing their dominance up front helping them to gain a penalty which Cooper converted.
Burnham again were playing against a side whose forwards were at least a stone a man heavier but again were still able to turn that around against the opposition and cause utter disruption in their set piece with Sam Coles, Mike Hocking and Ollie Streeter at the forefront of this domination.
Matt Love produced an last-gasp tackle to deny Old Bristolian's an almost certain try and that was backed up by the rampaging Streeter who smashed through the defence only to be held up short of the line and from the resulting scrum the inevitable happened a penalty try and a half time lead of 10-0.
The home side responded in the second half with some well drilled phases and astute kicking to win a couple of penalties and pull the scores back to 10-6.
Bristol could have closed the gap more with a penalty but chose to take a cross field kick to the winger which was intercepted by Matt Love and Jordan Paul picked up the loose ball to run 95 metres over the line.
But still the home side wouldn't lie down and scored to make the score 17-13 before Burnham had the last word as Cooper passed to Tim Piper who burst through the line to stroll under the posts to take to the final score to 13-24.
Next week, the team face a tough test against Avon at home.
