Richard's success at 2012 Junior Open

IN windy and often wet conditions, 53 players from 19 clubs from around the UK contested the 2012 Junior Open at Burnham and Berrow.

The winning scores reflected the good quality of the play from the young entrants.

In category one, for players with handicaps below ten, the winner on countback was Richard Kippen of Enmore Park.

Kippen scored a gross 76, net 72, narrowly beating Burnham member Arthur Dickson-Bell who had a gross 91, net 72.

In category two, for players with handicaps between 11 and 18, the winner was again decided on countback.

Lewis Thomas and Ian Kelland both from Pontypridd, recorded net 73’s, with Thomas coming out on top.

The over 19 handicap winner was Dan Solomon of Burnham with 40 points, followed by 11-year-old Alice Thomas of Pontypridd with 38 points.

The Love Cups for best net scores were won by Charlie Huggins, of Burnham and Maddie Stone of East Devon.

Finally the Mills Shields for the best gross were won by Andrew Ferris of Clevedon and Megan Dennett of Enmore Park.
