THIRD division side Redgate produced a shock win over Division 1 Locomotives as the magic of the Rowbarton Charity Cup quarter-finals threw up some intriguing results.

The scores were level at 3-3 after extra-time as Sergio Da Silva Faria’s brace and Jack Evett scored for Redgate, while Mark Peters, Matt Lukins and Jay Cross netted for Locos. Redgate held their nerve to win the penalty shoot-out 5-3.

Wembdon lost to Division 2 Sampford Blues 2-1 with Matt Kerton’s goal proving little consolation.

SRL Saints were also dumped out of the cup in a 5-2 defeat at Highbridge Town despite goals from Darren Hill and Lewis Hodge. On target for Town were Pete Thompson, Stuart Green, Will Bailey, Ricky Cook and Adam Locke.

In the last eight of the League Knock-Out Cup, Middlezoy Rovers beat Porlock 3-0 with Steve Hall grabbing two goals and Fan Luce, but Rovers Reserves failed to progress after a 2-1 defeat against Bridgwater Sports for whom Dean Organ and Craig McGann scored.

In Division 1 league action, North Petherton suffered a demoralising 2-0 defeat to lowly side Alcombe Rovers.

Division 2 saw Wembdon Saints draw 1-1 with Watchet. Wembdon took the lead after 80 minutes thanks to a Scott Harman screamer but Watchet levelled the scores in injury time through an own goal.

Westonzoyland had a 3-2 home win over Wyvern Rangers for whom Derek Forde and Aaron Stallabrass scored. On target for the Westonzolyand were Anton Ross, Andrew James and Harry Millard.

In Division 3, Stogursey lost 4-0 to Hamilton Hawks, Highbridge Town Reserves drew 3-3 with basement club Williton thanks to two goals from veteran Paul Cook and one for Chris Rex, and Sydenham Rangers fell to a 2-0 loss against Norton Fitzwarren.

The Merry Monk claimed a major scalp of Milverton Rangers in the top of the table Division 4 clash.

Rangers stay top by one point but two goals from Merry Monk’s Ryan Bradford and one from Tim Dyke proved enough to seal the points.

The Gallery beat Rhode Lane Wanderers 3-1 with goals from Scott Capel, Shane Thompson and Jason McPheat as Ricky Hill scored Wanderers’ consolation. Bridgwater Sports Colts suffered an 8-1 defeat to Blagdon Hill with Steve Redman scoring their only goal.

In Division 5, North Petherton stay top after their 6-1 home win over East Bower thanks to a Lewis Buller hat-trick and goals from Josh Gracie, John Matthews and Darren Fouracres with Jack Reed netting Bower’s consolation goal.

There was less luck for Bridgwater Grasshoppers who lost 6-1 to Sampford Blues Reserves, despite Chris Atyeo’s goal.

Two goals in the last five minutes from Andy Rolland and Michael Hawker helped Nether Stowey Reserves share the honours 2-2 with Creech.

But Morganians fell to a 3-1 defeat with Dan Wilkes grabbing the home side’s only goal and Wembdon Saints also fell to defeat in their 2-1 loss to Galmington Dragons.
