National U-17 South-West Divisional Cup final: Taunton Junior Colts 34, Swindon U-17s 0.

TAUNTON lifted their first silverware of the season with an emphatic victory against Swindon at Bradford-on-Avon.

Taunton’s forwards dominated from the start and enabled James Huxtable to put the side ahead with a penalty.

The forwards’ strength continued to be the major difference between the teams and this allowed Joel Conlon to crash over for a brace of tries.

Both Harney brothers, Billy and Ashley, crossed the opponent’s line to effectively kill the game off by half time with a stunning 29-0 score line.

The second half was a much tighter contest but it was fitting that Joel Conlon grabbed the only try of the half to complete his hat-trick. Huxtable converted three of the tries Taunton now proceed to the semi-finals where they play Sevenoaks, the winners of the London and South-East division. The game will take place at Henley RFC on the April 18.

Somerset U-19s League: Burnham Colts 0, Taunton Colts 60.

TAUNTON maintained their unbeaten season in the inaugural U-19s league, with another outstanding performance.

Playing with the strong breeze, Taunton exerted their authority by running in three tries in the first ten minutes – Harris, Miller and Busek going over after fine handling movements. Hill converted one.

Further tries from Iles, Marsden and Stone meant that Taunton turned around at half-time 38-0 to the good.

Open-side flanker Stokes scored Taunton’s seventh try as the side continued to play expansive running rugby into the strong breeze.

Hinton was next to go over, while Stonier, playing his first game since November, also crossed, leaving Iles to ‘chip and chase’ for the tenth and final score.

Wiveliscombe Colts 28, Bridgwater Colts 22.

WIVELISCOMBE hit back from a 15-point deficit to take the honours in a close game. Wivey scored four tries in total, with Freddie Green, Adam Keay, Marcus Westcott and George Rowe going over and Rowe converting all four.

FORMER Taunton Fillies and Richard Huish College loose-head prop Abbey Constable is set to appear at Twickenham.

Abbey played for the UWIC Ladies team in their victory over Cambridge University in the semi-final of the University Cup at Newbury RFC with the final to at Twickenham this month.

Meanwhile, Fillies player Sarah Bebbington captained the South-West South girls side in their 36-14 victory over West Midlands. Sarah is a student at Richard Huish College.
