BISHOPS Lydeard went through to the third round of the Somerset Intermediate Cup after a 6-0 victory over Portishead Town.

The match was one of four involving Silver Street VW Taunton and District Saturday League sides that had been postponed the previous weekend.

Dave Richardson led the way with a hat-trick while James Welch, Andrew Springer and Lee Hellier added one each.

Spaxton were the other side also have their name in the hat after beating Ilchester Juniors 3-2 with goals from Luke Miller, Jamie Sellick and Michael Richards.

The league lost to Redgate and Wembdon Saints, the former losing to Purnell Sports 0-2 and the latter 1-4 to Weston St Johns Sports Bar, with John Doyle scoring Saints’ consolation.

In the Rowbarton Charity Cup, Highbridge Town made no mistake against fourth division opponents Middlezoy Rovers Reserves winning 5-0.

Bridgwater Sports Colts beat Westonzoyland Reserves 5-0, with Paul Goss (2), Kev Curran, Gary Howes and Craig Savage scoring.

Middlezoy Rovers had a chance to go top of Division One but they lost 4-1 to Porlock.

Richie Rich netted twice for the home side, with Sean Kenney and Lee Knowles adding the others, while Tom Seal scored for Rovers.

Cannington and Hulan shared the points in a 4-4 draw, with Connor Watts and Mike Perrin scoring hat-tricks for their clubs. Will Conway and Jamie Tong added the others.

Dulverton Town had two hat-trick heroes in Mark Oram and Tom Edworthy in their 6-2 beating of Marketeers, for whom John Richardson netted both.

Taverners overcame the problem of having a man sent off after 30 minutes to beat Locomotives 3-1.

Tom Wadham, Craig Plumridge and Rodney Marsh scored and Tom Edwards replied for the hosts.

Alcombe Rovers closed the gap on the top two with a 2-1 win at Wyvern.

Ross Addicott and Chris Duffy scored while Simon Waugh replied for Wyvern.

Civil Service stopped Woolavington Predators going back on top of Division Two by beating them 3-1. Player/manager Rob Allan scored two, with Reza Ariannejad adding the third, while John Penwell replied for Predators.

Staplegrove hadn’t played for three weeks but came back with a bang by beating Minehead Town 7-2.

Kirk Reece and Lucas Ozminowski had two each, Gary Griffiths and Ian Larcombe added one but the goal of the day was a 35-yarder by Peter Horton.

Steve Wyld and Ashley Morgan replied for Minehead.

Sampford Blues continued their great form by beating Wyvern Reserves 9-1 and went top of the table on goals scored.

Aaron Braddick hit three, as did Steve Conway, Scott Grabham added two and Christian Woon one, with Scott Reynolds replying.

Westonzoyland secured their second win of the season by beating Norton Fitzwarren 4-0, John Cook, Nathan Barnard, Jamie Winter and Arron James scoring.

Nether Stowey closed the gap on the top sides with a 2-1 win at Bridgwater Sports Reserves.

Matt Stevenson and Jason Alexander scored while Simon Caddy replied for Sports.

In Division Three, there was no positional change at the top but with Wembdon’s game postponed due to an unfit pitch at Alcombe, the chasing pack closed the gap.

White Hart Rangers beat Old Inn 3-2. Andrew Shelley, Adam Crossman and Simon Livy scored while Rob Chidgey and Steve Reed replied for Old Inn.

Near the end a Rangers player was accidentally knocked out cold and the league hopes he is okay.

By the time the pitch was cleared it was too dark to continue so the referee deemed the match abandoned with a few minutes left, meaning the result will stand.

Staplegrove Reserves travelled to Watchet and secured a 3-0 win.

Nick Crowford scored two and 16-year-old Sam Mockridge hit a glorious shot from 30 yards.

Sydenham Rangers let Milverton take an early lead but hit back with seven of their own.

Bob Smith came off the bench to hit a second-half hat-trick, Paul Ham scored two and Dan Crossley and Jake Adey added one each.

In Division Four, Exmoor closed the gap on non-playing Appletree.

But having conceded only two goals all season they allowed Staplegrove Colts to score three and share the spoils in a 3-3 draw.

Jake Quick put ’Grove in front but Ryan Cody-Boucher, James Geen and Jimmy Baker scored for Exmoor to take a 3-1 advantage.

Arthur Sinclair got one back and then Jon Forward came off the bench to score the equaliser.

Stogursey had a 5-0 victory over bottom side Dynamo Devon, with Alex Dickson (3), Ryan Chidgey and Mark Troman scoring.

Highbridge Town Reserves beat Porlock Reserves 6-0. Gareth Taylor hit two and Phil Fisher, Simon Fouracres, Paul Baker and Ryan Elliott netted one each.

Hamilton Hawks and Dulverton Town Reserves played out a 2-2 draw, Dave Chambers and David Foster scoring for Hawks while Lee Hooper grabbed both for Town.
