Les Phillips Cup
First round
Bishops Lydeard 5, Portishead Town 2

CHARLIE Wilson stole the show with four goals, firing Bishops Lydeard past fellow First Division side Portishead Town in Saturday's cup tie.

Wilson broke the deadlock with half an hour played, surging clear from the halfway line, combining with Jay Quick and finishing coolly.

He had his second just three minutes later, and the hosts led 2-0 at the break.

Wilson completed his hat-trick three minutes into the second half, with a delightful chip from 18 yards, but there were no more goals until a mad final seven minutes.

Portishead pulled two back, but Quick (from Adam Watson's superb pass) and Wilson again (after Quick had unselfishly squared it to him) ensured Lydeard would progress.

They are back on league duty this Saturday (ko 3pm), at home to fellow mid-table team Chippenham Park.
