Pre-season friendly
Ilminster Town 2, Chard Town 5

CHARD Town kicked off their pre-season schedule with an entertaining win at neighbours Ilminster Town.

It was a good workout for both sides as they set their sights on the upcoming campaigns in the Toolstation Western League First Division (Chard) and Somerset County League Premier Division (Ilminster).

Paul Down's Chard side took a 3-0 lead at the Archie Gooch Pavilion thanks to two Max Westlake penalties and a goal from Taofik Ben Salem, who then made it 4-0 after the break.

Taylor Jefferson and Brad Pitman pulled two back for Jason Manley's side, only for Elliot Bevis (who has joined the Robins from Gillingham Town) to wrap it up for the visitors.

Both teams are back in action on Saturday (July 15), with Chard at home to Shaftesbury (ko 3pm, £3 entry) and Ilminster away to Bridport.
