TAUNTON put themselves firmly on the volleyball map by sharing honours with teams from Manchester and London after finishing in third place in the Under-15s National Volleyball finals.
Captain Georgia McGovern led her team to a famous victory against Ashfield Vipers in the first pool game which secured the club’s first ever semi-final in the competition, winning 2-1 (25:19, 17:25, 15:8).
The second pool game of the day was against a very strong Tameside, of Manchester, and they were beaten 25:14, 25:14.
In the semi-final, Taunton faced Richmond of London.
This was a closely-fought match, Richmond winning the first set 25:17 and then 26:24 in the second set to go through to the final.
Tameside were crowned champions as they beat Richmond 2-0 in the final.
Volleyball Taunton train on a Tuesday night at Wellsprings Leisure Centre.
Junior training is between 5pm to 6pm and 6pm to 7.30pm, while adults train from 7.30pm to 9pm.
