ENMORE Park member Hannah Grant has successfully retained the County Ladies Championship.

Grant scored gross 157 over the 36-hole qualifying day at Burnham & Berrow Golf Club and won the Scratch Cup.

She then played 36 holes a day for the next two days in the knockout rounds and won the final against Jade Cope from Weston-super-Mare.

This season, Grant has also been selected to play in the South-West Inter-Counties match week (scratch match play Round Robin against five other counties).

This victory is the third time Grant has won the championship and the second year in succession.

Danny Crook, Ryan Brewer, Alex Clapp and Craig Cook were the winners of the Dave Hartley Texas Scramble event, a shotgun start event at 7.30am on Sunday.

They returned an impressive combined net score of 54.3.

Runners-up, with net 57, were Paul Windsor, Kieran Windsor, Paddy Maclennan and Mike Tomkins.

Enmore’s junior section is looking a lot healthier in 2017.
Junior organiser Sean Canavan and Dave Wixon are making a big effort to strengthen the section and participation levels are already improving.

After a talent scouting day in March, Enmore have an Academy group of boys and girls who are attending group lessons and playing club nights.

Saturday morning lessons have been well attended and will only improve with football and rugby seasons now over.

The club will be taking Try Golf into three local primary schools to promote golf and Enmore Golf Club to local communities.

Enmore Park Seniors entertained their mid-Somerset rivals from the Wells club on a bright but sometimes chilly day and, sadly, came away second best with a rare drop in home form.

With only seven pairs competing, Enmore could only register two outright wins by Steve Lukins with ‘new boy’ Ray Williams (a fine 6&4 win) and David Brown with Keith Calvert (2&1).

Captain David Pascoe, with Jeff Saunders, gained a consolation half point meaning Enmore went down 2½-4½.

Enmore Seniors’ next encounter, at the Clevedon course, was abandoned by heavy rain which brought instant flooding to the course.
