TAUNTON RFC have confirmed that head coach Tony Yapp, forwards coach Chris Brown and team manager and scrum coach Keith Brooking have all committed for another campaign with the Taunton Titans.

Tony Yapp had signed a new three-year contract at the beginning of last season and, after another successful season on and off the field, the club have managed to keep the team together for at least another season.

With the Titans finishing fourth in National 2 South, scoring the most points they have at that level, and the success of the Taunton Warriors, who won the inaugural South West Pilot League for second teams, as well as the number of players that stepped up from the Warriors to the Titans, the club felt consistency in the coaching staff was a must.

Ben Goddard, Taunton RFC Secretary, said: “As a club, we are absolutely delighted the three of them have signed and committed for at least another season.

“Their enthusiasm, professionalism and values they hold are shared within the Taunton Committee and we look forward to this partnership continuing.”

Head coach Tony Yapp said: “We feel that if we can show continuity within the coaching structure, that stability will spread through to the players who can see we are committed to making the club successful on and off the field.

“As a trio, we have been together now for over four seasons and each season we have improved.

“Hopefully, this improvement will continue as the hard work in training by the players and the coaches helps everyone to improve their game and enjoy what we are all doing and aiming for.

“We get on well together and all share the same beliefs and passion within the game.

“We don’t see eye to eye on all things, but that is why we work well.

“We respect each other and know we are all pulling in the same direction and have the same end goal, which is to make Taunton RFC a success on and off the field with a brand of rugby players love to play and fans love to watch.”
