Taunton Titans 33, Redruth 33
TAUNTON Titans and Redruth shared the points after an exhilarating 33-33 draw at Hyde Park on Saturday.
Despite arriving later than planned due to traffic chaos on the M5, the visitors got off to a flyer and were 12-0 up inside the opening half hour after scores from Kyle Marriott and Lewis Vinnicombe.
The hosts then took advantage of a yellow card for Redruth's Jack Oulton to turn the game on its head before the interval, with a quickfire trio of tries courtesy of Blake Lugg, Conor Harbison and Sam Prior - all converted by Kingdom - helping the Titans into a 21-12 half-time lead.
The home side secured their bonus point early in the second period when Nick Mason went over, but a succession of catch and drive tries from the visitors cut Taunton's lead to just two points.
Freddie Fraser gave the Titans some breathing space when he went over in the corner to open up a 33-27 advantage with 15 minutes to play.
The Cornish side refused to give in, however, and levelled the scores when Brett Rule converted Oulton's late try.
Both sides pushed for the deciding score in the closing stages but the match ended level, a result which keeps the Titans in fourth place and ahead of their West Country rivals by just a single point.
