Saturn 54, Sharks 49

SATURN started the game with a lot of energy and, with some great feeds into the circle from Charlie Austin (C), Morganne Dunn (GS) and Rebecca Hooper (GA) were able to put up some fantastic shots.

With defensive pressure from Rebecca Dunn (WD) and some great drives from Kia Jenner (WA), Saturn was able to turn over the ball, finishing the second quarter 27-25 up.

In the third quarter, interceptions and tips from Sally Haysham (GD) and Emily Bridges (GK) meant that Saturn remained in the lead at the end of the third quarter.

Going into the final quarter, Saturn were determined to maintain the lead and, thanks to some lovely passes into the shooters from Cerys Ethridge (WA), Saturn remained in control and continued increasing the goal difference.

After a strong team effort from everyone, Saturn finished the game by winning 54-49.

Saturn 45, Millfield 57

THIS midweek game saw Saturn take on team Millfield.

It was a tough first quarter with Millfield turning over the ball and scoring from Saturn’s centre passes.

The defence were tested but Rebecca Dunn, Sally Haysham and Emily Bridges remained strong.

In the second quarter Gabby Nardiello put some great balls up to Morganne Dunn, who scored every time.

The second quarter ended with the scoreline 31-24 to Millfield.

In the third quarter, Saturn were working together to turn the ball over and score from Millfield’s mistakes.

With Kia Jenner putting pressure on her player, Charlie Austin and

Rebecca Hooper were able to work the ball down the court.

This was Saturn’s best quarter and at one point they were behind by four.

In the final quarter, they started to tire and Millfield gained on Saturn, ending with a 57-45 win.

Venus 42, Harlequins 53

VENUS defensive trio Emily Harwood (GK), Hana Middleton (GD) and Jo Woodberry (WD) made a strong start but the team finished the first quarter 14-8 behind.

The second quarter showed super feeds into the shooting circle from joint player of the match Hannah Sayer (C) and Chris Shaw (WA), which increased the goals scored.

In the third quarter Cerys Ethridge (WA) made an appearance to the court with accurate feeds into the shooting D, though the score moved to 42-32 to Harlequins.

In the last quarter Jessie Woodberry (GA) used great movement in the circle to create space and score some fantastic goals, but Harlequins won the day.

Despite the match getting away from them in the end, Venus kept going throughout and showed all round great determination and team morale.

Mars 32, Minstrels 21

MARS took to the court with a new line up to face Purnell’s Minstrels, and the first quarter saw Flora Horrox (GA) and Sharon Ethridge (GS) shoot with pinpoint accuracy, allowing Mars to stride into a 12-3 lead.

Both teams fought hard for the ball, converting goals and creating turnovers, but Mars couldn’t increase their lead despite great links down the court by Eve Jenner (C).

Both teams scored equally as Mars went into half time 22-13 ahead.

Some team changes at half time enabled Mars to minimise Minstrels’ goals and increase their lead.

Going into the last quarter Mars remained confident, as Beth Hayes and Abbey Alderwick got some terrific tips and interceptions and a great team effort throughout saw a fantastic win for Mars.
