WITH only seven points separating Taunton Titans from the top, this weekend’s home match (ko 3pm) with second-placed Bishop’s Stortford couldn't be any bigger, writes Keith Brooking.

A loss will see a maximum of 12 points difference between the two teams with seven games left for the Titans, and with Bishop’s having a game in hand this is definitely a must-win game.

Both teams play fast, expansive rugby, and respect each other on and off the field, so this should be another tight encounter – the Titans have beaten Bishop’s at home by only five points in the last two seasons.

The hosts have righted some wrongs over the past month, helping them beat Old Elthamians and Clifton – both of whom beat them earlier in the season.

Bishop’s are another team to have beaten the Titans, and have in fact put the most points on them this season, registering 50 points at the end of October.

The Titans’ emphasis will be on carrying on the form and attitude that has seen them score 18 tries over the last five games while conceding only eight.

That defence could make all the difference this weekend, as Bishop’s have 17 try bonus points from 21 games played.

It's a big weekend in National 2 South on the whole, with the top six teams involved in games between themselves, as well as the bottom four teams playing each other.

At the bottom end of the table Exmouth host Barnes and Barnstaple go to Worthing Raiders.

And at the top, the form team of the league, Cinderford, travel to the league leaders Chinnor, hoping to make it four out of five wins against the teams above them, while Redruth entertain Old Elthamians.
